Solid Rock Baptist Church will be holding its annual 2018 Summer Youth Camp at Whispering Pines Bible Camp in Cochrane, Alberta from August 12 to 17. The camp is open to families of church members and invited guests. It is specifically oriented toward children and youth with morning and evening services through each of the days of the week. These services include activities for the young people led by church volunteers and messages from the Bible by the invited preachers. Pastor Rick Drummond, Lebanon Baptist Temple, Lebanon, Ohio and Evangelist Mark McGaughey, Pell City, Alabama, will preach to the young people (12 years and older) and adults. Pastor Matthew Keenan, Assistant Pastor, Old Paths Baptist Church, Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, will be preaching to the children below 12 years of age (tweenies). These three men are excellent preachers and have many years of experience in ministering to young people in local churches.
The theme for the 2018 Youth Camp is “Contending For the Faith”. Preaching of the Word of God and the work of the Holy Spirit of God are instrumental in producing the transformation needed to be saved (become a Christian) and then to grow and develop a godly Christian character after salvation. The entire Youth Camp is focused toward getting young people to dedicate their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ and serve Him in God’s plan and will for their lives.
Activities for the youth and families will keep everyone busy throughout the week. There will be team volleyball. Volunteers will be needed for those who wish to help in the different team games and Bible memorization contests. Watching the young people compete in the sports and team contests is a lot of fun for all. The theme for these different events takes place between the preaching services.
Accommodation for the participants is provided at the dormitories on the campsite. There is also room for recreation vehicles (RVs) and tents for those who wish to camp apart from the buildings. The food and drinks throughout the week will be provided by Solid Rock Baptist Church as part of the fee for each participant. The tasty meals (breakfast, lunch and supper) and desserts are always greatly appreciated and enjoyed by all the campers.
Morning services will start at 10 am and end for lunch. Activities will be in the afternoon. Evening services will be held at 7 pm. We spend time around the bonfire before retiring to sleep for the night.
