Solid Rock Baptist Church’s 2017 annual Missions Revival Meeting will be held at the church building(1539-43 St., S.E.) in Forest Lawn from November 12 to 17. Pastor Mike Keenan of Old Paths Baptist Church, Parkesburg, Pennsylvania, will be the guest preacher during the Sunday through Friday services. Brother Keenan brings 40 years of experience as a missionary-minded pastor to the church. He has challenged Solid Rock for nearly a decade in its mission revivals. The church has responded to the Lord in these meetings, and by the Biblical method, met its Faith/Promise objective each year. There has been a significant increase in the annual financial commitment to foreign missions as a result of the Faith/Promise revivals.
This Revival meeting challenges the church to support missions by a Scriptural Faith/Promise method. Individual members of the church are encouraged through the preaching to commit a weekly/monthly amount for 12 months for missions. The result brings blessings to the givers and recipients as people learn to give above their tithe as the Lord leads, and watch as God provides. The Scriptures used for Faith/Promise missions are in 2 Corinthians 9:6-8: “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” By following this principle of giving peoples’ faith increases and the Lord’s work prospers.
A Music School will be held at Solid Rock Baptist Church during the Missions Revival week. Brothers Andy Leftwich and Jim Britton of Cornerstone Baptist Church (Pastor Ron Ralph), Carthage, Tennessee, will be teaching the fiddle, mandolin, banjo and guitar. These faithful servants of God bring both a highly accomplished expertise in music and their godly testimonies to the church and to their students.
The Missions Revival services will begin at 11:00 am/7:00 pm on Sunday, November 12 and continue daily at 7 pm Monday through Friday, November 17. The Music School will be held from about 5:30 pm daily Monday through Friday before the evening services. There is no charge for the music students. Please contact Pastor Harwood at 403 690-5746 if you would like to attend the Music School or have a child that is interested in attending.
