What We Believe
The following is a quick summation of our doctrinal positions. However, a doctrinal statement is more than simply information. We believe there should be a practical application of the information because if what one believes does not bring their behavior into conformity with Jesus Christ and true charity, then it doesn’t matter how “right” the doctrinal position is. We intend to maintain the balance that exists between doctrine and duty.
“TRUTH WITHOUT CHARITY IS BRUTALITY. CHARITY WITHOUT TRUTH IS HYPOCRISY”
-unknown
Jesus Christ
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ to be God manifest in the flesh, virgin born, without sin,
crucified, risen and coming in the clouds for his church and soon after coming back to earth to
establish his kingdom. 1 Tim. 3:16; Matt. 1:18-25; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; John 14:1-6; 1
Thessalonians 4:16-18; Luke 1:31-33; Revelation 11:15; 19:11-16
The Trinity
God exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This is
known as the Godhead in scripture. Gen. 1:1-3; 1 Tim. 3:16; Acts 5:3-5; 1 John 5:7.
Scripture
We believe all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is found perfectly preserved today in the Authorized Version King James Bible. This Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Psalm 12:6-7; 2 Timothy 3:16
Man
We believe all men are sinners and that sin and death entered this world through the first man,
Adam. Genesis 3; Romans 3:10-23; 5:12.
Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died for our sins
and rose again on the third day.
Baptism
We believe water baptism is by immersion after a genuine profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is representative of a death, burial and resurrection and is administered to believers only. Acts 8:36-38; 10:47-48
Eternal Security
We believe the born again child of God is eternally secure in Christ and is baptized, indwelt,
regenerated, comforted and sealed by the Holy Ghost until the day of redemption. Ephesians
1:12-13; 4:30; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; 12:13; John 14:16-17, 26; Titus 3:5; Philippians 1:6;
Romans 8:38-39
Holiness
We believe one of the great purposes of regeneration is to make believers more and more
conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe Christians should present their
bodies to God and walk according to the Spirit, not fulfilling the lusts of the flesh. Romans 12:1-2
Galatians 5:16. This sanctification/holiness is an ongoing process of growth.
Eternity - Hell
We believe in a literal, burning, hell as described plainly in the Bible. Luke 16:19-31; Mark 9:43-
48; Revelation 20:11-15
Eternity - Heaven
We believe in a literal, paradise known as heaven where the saints of all ages reside with God.
John 14:1-3; 2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Revelation 21:1-5
Witnessing
We believe it is a Christian’s responsibility to witness and proclaim the gospel of the grace of God to the world through personal and public testimony, gospel tracts and support of local and foreign missions. Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20;
Dispensations
We believe the scriptures are to be rightly divided; therefore, we are dispensationalists. While all scripture is profitable, there are divinely ordered dispensations which must be notated through prayerful and careful Bible study in order to avoid doctrinal heresy. We are not hyper-dispensational, which is a heresy of its own. 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17
Independence (as a Church)
We are independent. This means our local assembly is self-governing and is not connected to a denominational headquarters or convention. The Pastor is the overseer and church leadership
is to be male. 1 Peter 5:1-4; 1 Timothy 3:1-14; Acts 6:1-6; Hebrews 13:7, 17
